“You are not a student of a school. You are a student of life. And here... life finally becomes your teacher.”
Welcome to the Paradisa Beach Academy!
What do children need to learn today in order to become happy adults later? How can we enable them to follow the call of their hearts, supporting them without imposing our own ideas?
PARADISA thrives on diversity, blossoms through love, and creates fertile ground for creativity and growth within a protected space – a community that nurtures and supports without pressure or expectation. That is exactly what PARADISA and the PARADISA Beach Academy are all about. We are a community where everyone can be everything, and where each person is encouraged in their abilities and visions. Intergenerational learning – not only from one another but also with one another – makes our way of learning and understanding the world unique and beautiful.
A space of growth, togetherness, and personal development for young and old alike, where learning is joyful, and where we create – hand in hand – a world full of possibilities. A world in which each individual is seen and heard, can take their rightful place, and is invited to find their purpose in life. The spark that makes us truly burn for something arises because we love what we do – and are never forced into anything that does not fulfill or serve us.
Free Learning in Paradise
PARADISA is a place of self-unfolding. Children here do not learn to please others or to collect degrees. They learn because they want to experience life. But how does free learning work without a fixed framework?
The Beach Academy is not a school and not a compulsory program. No one is ever sent to detention, and there is no curriculum that everyone must follow. It does not work like the traditional school system. Instead, it offers knowledge that is needed – and chosen – by the children and young people themselves. Projects are created, such as art afternoons, or visits to a workshop where a traditional Malagasy pirogue (canoe) is built. Life itself is the teacher the children need – and the one they choose for themselves.
Sewing. Painting. Gardening. Sailing. Fishing. There are no limits to the variety that PARADISA and Madagascar’s nature offer us. If a child wants to learn a language, they can – and will be supported in whichever way works best: with a real teacher, alone, or in a group. There are also regular Malagasy lessons for all Paradisians who want to join. One of our free learners now speaks four languages fluently. Not because he had to – but because he wanted to. That is the principle of free learning: the child’s wish is the root, and they choose their own way of guidance, finding it within a community of people who love what they do and passionately share the knowledge they carry as a treasure within.
Lukas, for example, has been a free learner all his life and has never attended a school. Here, in PARADISA, he learned to read and write with the help of a Paradisian – outside of any school framework, without pressure, at his own pace, and with joy as the foundation. Learning became a wonderful journey for him. And that is exactly how it should be! An adventure for children who, driven by curiosity and thirst for knowledge, take the first steps on their own and rediscover joy and fun in shared learning. We are a team. We help each other. Through this heartfelt, open community, PARADISA becomes and flourishes into a place where everyone can become what they dream of. Each person grows through their own tasks and finds their place in paradise – whether as a DJ, an artist, a musician or producer, a craftsman, or a farmer building our permaculture. Here, everyone can be everything. Not only here in PARADISA – but also in the world. All opportunities are open, whether in Madagascar, Europe, or Germany. Together, we create fertile ground for free personal development. A child’s dream may just as well be medical school, paramedic training, or studying at a university in Europe. Visions know no limits – for a future in Europe and/or in PARADISA.
There are no tests. No mass instruction. No dry theory. Only moments that shape you, that invite you to follow your curiosity and explore the world for yourself. New paths. New perspectives. A new self. In this sense, the Beach Academy is a place that invites you to remember who you truly are. A teaching that leads you back to your roots – without overwhelming you. A presence born of freedom, never demanded. And what grows from this – you can see now!
What exactly is the Beach Academy?
The Beach Academy shares knowledge on different levels. Through connection, joy, mindfulness, and true curiosity, a wonderful place emerges for children, young people, and adults alike. A place where everyone – no matter how much life experience they may have – can grow beyond themselves.
It is a playground and an oasis of knowledge, where learning with an open heart and genuine passion becomes the seedling of a greater vision. Not achievement is demanded and fostered here, but individuality, creativity, and visionary thinking. A way of learning that opens our eyes to a whole new perception of the world – one in which everyone is truly seen.
The Leech Beach Academy
The Leech Beach Academy is the newest project within the Beach Academy. With Bruce Leech as mentor, it builds a bridge between PARADISA and the children of the surrounding villages, who are warmly invited to explore their world with Bruce Leech – their lemur teacher – hand in hand with PARADISA and their mentors. In this way, the PARADISA Beach Academy also supports local children, offering them encouragement and a space for personal growth.
Bruce Leech

“The Leech Beach Academy is not a school building. Not a timetable. Not compulsion. It is a living place. Or rather: a state. A state of awareness. Connection. Curiosity. And clarity.” –
Bruce Leech – reincarnation of a conscious artist, an Eulemur macaco – a black lemur from Andasibe, Madagascar.
Here it is not about functioning, proving oneself, or performing under pressure. It is about more – and Bruce Leech shows us what that “more” means through his principles. This school does not need a bell, school desks, or even a building. Because the lessons taught here to both young and older generations cannot survive within the matrix – they flourish in the space of our community, in a garden full of possibilities, amidst the nature of Madagascar. A paradise for lemurs and humans alike. A school that connects people and creates heroes – people who, like Bruce Leech, want to make the world a better, more beautiful place by following the call of their hearts and exploring the world with curiosity and joy.
“The Beach Academy is a training ground for awareness, an adventure for your soul – and maybe the first place in your life where you don’t have to become someone." – Bruce Leech
The Guideline of the Beach Academy according to Bruce Leech: Learning through connection. Learning through experience. Learning through feeling.
Connections that support and encourage without demanding. True human connection, which gives without taking – and which conveys far more than mathematical formulas or historical events that have shaped our world. We change the world – here and now. Each one of us. And the beginning always lies in how we perceive the world and ourselves. Real encounters between people – often under the open sky, while making music together, picking bananas, or working on artistic projects.
Everyone is invited to create a project – without pressure, without obligation. An invitation, never a duty. Here, conversations and genuine connections move the world of children, opening our hearts to the paths ahead – paths not laid down by any teacher or mentor, but waiting for us to explore them.

This has never existed before! Where lemurs teach, and nature and mindfulness are our greatest teachers: Meet Bruce Leech!
What happens when a lemur from Madagascar takes charge of a school – carrying the spirit of a Kung Fu master who changed the world with his unshakable clarity, his discipline, and his “two fists full of light,” as Bruce Leech loves to describe to those curious about his art of teaching? Curious about what might be possible in a world beyond performance pressure? The Beach Academy happens – a place of joy, wisdom, and mindfulness.
“I am not a human. And I am not an animal. I am a transition. A bridge. Between your instinct – and your inner master.” – Bruce Leech
A small group of Paradisians sets off to the neighboring village of Ankilibato, to visit the new Beach Academy project there.
The children’s lesson that day took place directly on the beach – the very place where a shop will be built, and where the first lesson was born. Inspired by a practical idea, more was being taught than simply building the perfect stone tower. Daniel explained the exercise and its educational value, the lesson that Bruce Leech connects to this art:
The First Lesson: The Art of Stone Balancing
The first step into the Leech Beach Martial Art is surprisingly gentle:
No punches. No kicks. Just a stone.
The technique is special and should not be underestimated...
Building a tower of stones is one thing. But connecting them into a stone bridge? That becomes an almost impossible challenge – one that we Paradisians, despite motivation, ambition, and perseverance, could not master.
The secret lies in the pillars that carry this lesson:
The right standpoint. The ground must offer stability.
Inner calm and patience. The right breathing technique. No rush. Focus. The balance that carries the stones. No force – each stone has its place. And then, the final stone – requiring the greatest attention of all.
“If you wobble, it falls. If you breathe, it stands.” – Bruce Leech
We tried in pairs, watching the students build their stone foundations. One student managed to solve the task and grasped the principle. We gathered stones, built, breathed deeply, and exchanged ideas with our partners about how to construct our bridge of two pillars. Some were driven by ambition, even after their towers collapsed. Hand in hand, we stabilized them together, supported the children, gave guidance. In the end, there was even a small contest: who could build the tallest tower?A video of this little game brought great laughter to the village children. They had so much fun, never a moment of boredom. The space was filled with inspiration and enthusiasm, with joy for life and creativity. A young woman guided the lesson and supported the children with Bruce Leech’s teachings.
And what does this lesson teach us?
Balance begins on the outside, but it is born within us.
The children of Ankilibato are not only building these stone sculptures for class, they also learned that this art attracts tourists. What began as a lemur’s lesson has become a new source of income and a profound teaching for all generations.
We visited the new Beach Academy project in Ankilibato – and we are thrilled!

“I’ve already joined the Beach Academy in Ankilibato for the second time now. Once again, my curiosity brought me here, and as before, I was deeply touched by the wonderful atmosphere this project creates. It was truly beautiful. Creativity, joy, passion, and true connection through kindness filled the air and touched me deeply. What fascinated me most was the connection between art and physics in Bruce Leech’s lesson – an inspiring experience for me. These energies of creativity, the shared laughter and learning, stirred something within me – suddenly, new ideas were flowing. This space was created for real growth – and it was so palpable. Everyone was enthusiastic, laughing, gathering stones, building towers, and allowed to grow through the task and let their creativity flow freely. For self-expression without performance pressure. Joy and togetherness, in love and harmony, were always at the center. I will definitely join again!”
SUSANNE

“What moved me most was to see how uniquely each individual approached the task. It revealed so clearly the personal patterns behind it – how each one perceives and acts in the world. I noticed this especially within myself.”
MARTIN

“For me, this was the first time. Daniel had told me so much about this project, which made me curious to see how ‘teaching’ according to Bruce Leech would look – how these principles would be shared, and how we could imagine a school that is no normal school at all. I only know the regular school system – which is why this was a completely new, wonderful perspective. A perspective born of diversity, creativity, and togetherness. The children come here to sense, to perceive, to discover. They have fun. They laugh. They blossom in the lessons they are taught. A loving togetherness, in a protected and harmonious space. Growth at one’s own pace. Individual perspectives. And the principle: ‘I see you. We see each other.’ Simply impressive how sensitively this project has been built – and how much it can change in this world. Not only for the children of Ankilibato, but also for us, who are invited to PARADISA as mentors to create projects with the students.”
