Solidarity Tourism

Because we love to travel, to experience authentic encounters, to broaden our horizons and to get to know the unknown, we invite you to join us on a very special journey: A journey to the very nature of human beings, to the essence of our existence, where you will exchange with locals who live nothing but the moment.

PARADISA advocates for a new, regenerative form of tourism to enable empowering models of intercultural exchange beyond traditional, colonialist variants.

Solidarity tourism brings together alternative forms of tourism that put people and encounters at the centre of travel and fit into a logic of regional development. This form of travel, which respects the environment, people and cultures encountered on the journey, is even more holistic compared to fair tourism or ecotourism, because solidarity tourism benefits both sides.

The foundations of solidarity-based tourism are:

  • Participation of the local population in the different phases of the tourism project
  • Encounter and respect for people, cultures & nature
  • Fairer distribution of the resources produced
  • Sensitisation of travellers and preparation of the trip (waste management, resource management)
  • Local economic benefits

You will be integrated into the life of the locals in a completely different way, gain insight into the processes, make friends and experience a completely new, free world with all your senses - instead of remaining an anonymous tourist. This immersion in the local culture changes, nourishes and inspires on all levels. You are the creator of your travel experience, and your stay leaves a positive impact on the local population, reducing your ecological footprint to a meaningful minimum.

Furthermore, the local, cultural and social living conditions are authentically preserved. Perhaps the personal experiences and encounters will even create the desire to give something back to the hospitable Malagasy through a social investment or individual support of a local business project.

The cooperating locals offer a wide range of activities: from simple board & lodging to pirogue building courses, apnoea diving or learning to sail, percussion & sound, plant science & permaculture to carving.

Find out what brings you joy!
